Jordie Montevecchi


Jordie Montevecchi is a freelance documentary filmmaker and transmedia enthusiast with a background in social anthropology. Director, producer and camera operator for Matchbox Media, he is inspired by the exploration of cultural diversity and the challenge of representing this through multiple media.

Jordie has frontline experience working in productions for broadcasters such as Al Jazeera, CBS, NBC and Sky. His last feature documentary Sandgrains is an award winning media project, entirely crowdfunded by hundreds of supporters worldwide and with backing from organizations as WWF and Greenpeace. Parda Award for Best Film at the Cape Verde International Film Festival, Best Film at the Voices of the Water Film Festival in Sweden and Revelation of the Festival Prize at Cine Plateau, Cape Verde. Sandgrains has been screened at festivals on every continent including Open City Docs Fest in London, Environmental Film Festival in Melbourne and Green Film Festival in Seoul. It has been broadcasted on TG4 in Ireland, RTVE in Spain, PressTV in Iran and is distributed by Motion Pictures SA.

Jordie is currently developing the ambitious crossmedia project Block Seven, which in its early stages has already attracted extensive attention, having been selected for the Crossover Development Lab in the UK, Cross Video Days in France, Power to the Pixel in London, Dok Leipzig Net Lab in Germany and Sheffield DocFest Meet Market. Block Seven is currently being developed at Documentary Campus Masterschool and has recently been awarded a grant by the Catapult Film Fund.
